25 Books of Christmas: A Picture Book Journey

A PICTURE BOOK JOURNEY: THE 25 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

The 25 Books of Christmas is a super-simple tradition that our family started a few years ago. Before Advent begins, I wrap 25 Christmas books, and during the 25 days of December, my children take turns opening and reading one a day.

Books that correspond to a feast day, such as Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Lucy, receive a label with the date the book should be opened. I also wrap a couple of books for my children to open after Christmas that discuss the story of the Wise Men.

Building up our collection obviously took time and in the meantime, we used books from the library (which would be another great way to do this). In my December book list, I shared a few of our favorite Christmas books. My favorite addition this year was The Night the Saints Saved Christmas by Gracie Jagla.

This idea is certainly not a new one, but I wanted to share it for anyone who hasn't heard of it! May God's peace and joy be with you this Advent season as we await the coming of the Lord!
